Emoticons - emotional icons & smileys are some of facial expressions made by a certain series of keystrokes, most commonly used in SMS and in emails.
Most of
them will look like a face (eyes, nose, and mouth) when rotated 90 degree clockwise.
These are used to compensate for the inability to convey voice inflections, facial
expressions and bodily gestures in written communication.
It can be very effectively
used to avoid misinterpretation of the writer's intention.
