On Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa's statement that only an Indian should rule the country, Mr Karunanidhi shot back ''let this revolutionary leader read the famous lines of (revolutionary poet) Bharathidasan which says that only a Tamilian should become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.' (Ms Jayalalithaa's family belongs to Karnataka).
Earlier, Congress Jananayaka Peravai leader and Sivaganga candidate P Chidambaram, Congress candidates for Salem and Dindigul constituencies K V Thangkabalu and N S V Chithan, called on Mr Karunanidhi at his residence.
